Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

Recon Tactical Solutions (“we”, “us”, “our”) supplies secure communications, unmanned aerial and reconnaissance systems, and related training to defence and security organisations in East and Central Africa and the Middle East. Our head office is at 364 The East Mall, Etobicoke, ON M9B 6C5, Canada, and our regional office is at Plot 11 Kampala Road, Former ACAC, Kololo, P.O. Box 6716, Uganda.

This policy explains how we handle personal information collected through our website, recontactical.ca, and through inquiries you send us. We are responsible for that information under Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and, where it applies, Uganda’s Data Protection and Privacy Act, 2019. If you visit from another country, we will handle your information as described here and respect any additional rights your local law gives you.

2. What we collect

• Briefing request form. When you submit the form on our website we collect your full name, organisation, email address and the message you write. Please do not include classified, export-controlled or other sensitive information in the form.
• Email and other correspondence. If you email or otherwise contact us, we collect the information you choose to share, such as your contact details, role and the details of your requirements.
• WhatsApp. Our website has a WhatsApp chat button. Clicking it takes you to WhatsApp, a service operated by Meta; any chat then takes place on WhatsApp under its own privacy policy, and we receive your phone number, profile name and the messages you send.
• Technical information. Our hosting provider, Netlify, automatically records standard server log data when you visit, such as your IP address, browser type, pages requested and the date and time of the request. Our pages load fonts from Google Fonts, so your browser connects to Google’s servers, which receive your IP address and browser information.

We do not use analytics, advertising or tracking cookies, and our website does not set cookies of its own.

3. How we use your information

• To respond to your inquiry and arrange briefings or follow-up discussions.
• To understand your requirements and prepare proposals and quotations.
• To meet our legal obligations, including export-control, sanctions and end-user verification requirements that apply to defence and security equipment.
• To operate, secure and troubleshoot our website.

We do not use your information for unrelated purposes without your consent, and we do not send marketing messages unless you ask to receive them.

4. How we share information

We do not sell or rent personal information. We share it only with service providers who help us run our business, and only as needed for them to provide their services:

• Netlify, Inc. (United States) – hosts our website, processes and stores form submissions, and keeps server logs.
• Proton AG (Switzerland) – provides the Proton Mail service for our email, including the notifications of form submissions sent to info@recontactical.ca.
• Google – delivers the web fonts used on our pages.
• Meta / WhatsApp – only if you choose to contact us through WhatsApp.

We may also disclose information where required or permitted by law, for example to government authorities for export-control licensing or end-user verification, in response to a lawful request, or to protect our rights and the safety of others. If our business is reorganised or sold, information may be transferred to the successor under equivalent protections.

5. International transfers

We operate from Canada and Uganda, and our service providers are based in the United States and Switzerland. Your information may therefore be stored and processed outside your country, where privacy laws may differ and where authorities may be able to access it under local law. We use reputable providers and take reasonable steps to ensure your information receives a comparable level of protection.

6. How long we keep information

We keep personal information only as long as it is needed for the purpose it was collected – for example, to handle your inquiry or maintain our business relationship with you – or as long as required by law (such as for tax, contract or export-compliance records). After that, we delete it or make it anonymous.

7. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards to protect personal information, including encrypted (HTTPS) connections to our website, encrypted email hosting and access limited to staff who need it. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Your rights

Subject to applicable law, you may:

• ask whether we hold personal information about you and request a copy;
• ask us to correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete;
• withdraw your consent to our use of your information, or ask us to delete it, subject to legal or contractual restrictions; and
• make a complaint about how we handle your information.

To make a request, email info@recontactical.ca. We may need to verify your identity before responding. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or Uganda’s Personal Data Protection Office, or the data protection authority in your own country.

9. Children

Our website and services are intended for professionals and organisations. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us information, please contact us and we will delete it.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The current version will always be posted on this page with its effective date.
